Traverse Monte Tamaro to Monte Lema
It's a spectacular and a little challenging hike. However, due to the cable car on both mountains, it's a perfect day hike with excellent views. Usually, mid-June until mid-October are the best months of the year for the traverse but check the weather forecast first. It is difficult to hike with ice or too much rain before. Weather forecast Monte Tamaro
The traverse from Monte Tamaro to Monte Lema has breathtaking views. It is a minimum 13 km - 5 hours up and downhill hike. First, you take the cable car to Corte di Sopro. A short walk leads to Alpe Foppa. To start the traverse, you hike to the summit of Tamaro (1962 m). Plan some extra time to visit several places of interest like Chapel Santa Maria Degli Angeli designed by the well-known architect Mario Botta during the 90's, a break at Capanna Tamaro and hike to the top of Monte Magno.
After reaching Monte Lema, you can take the cable car to Miglieglia. From June to October, there is an evening shuttle bus back to Rivera cable car station. It is well organized which guarantees a perfect day hike. We did this hike already twice and highly recommend this awesome trail.
