Quinag is a massif of three Corbetts. It lies in the northern Assynt near Kylesku bridge. The best way up the mountains is from the car park on the main road A894.
It is better to start in the morning or before noon, since the walk can take more than six hours (depends on how fit you are). Always check forecast before you go!
Some say, the best time to visit Scotland is from mid April to the end of May, but you can experience good weather all year round.
The ruin of Ardvreck castle lies near the road A837 near Inchnadamph. It is easily accesible from the road, there is a parking lot and a path to it. It can be visited all year round.
All year round
Stac Pollaidh is one of the Assynt hills. With Suilven, its shape is the most recognizable. The walk starts in the car park under the mountain on the minor road that leads from A835 to Achnahaird.
Can be walked all year in good weather. But every season is different:
Mid-April to May: Good chance of dry weather. However, Scotland’s weather is unpredictable. For hikers May is often one of the best months: Warm enough, longer daylight, lush and green landscape, wildflowers bloom, less tourists.
June to August: Long, sunny days, warmest time. However, it’s peak season: Most tourists and highest accommodation prices. Annoying midges are at their worst.
September to October: Less busy and midges start to disappear as well. Temperatures in September are between 10 and 16°C in and between 6 and 12°C in October. Idyllic landscape with beautiful foliage. Great time for hiking.
November to March: It can get very cold and days are short. Guesthouses are often closed.
